14th IEM Chemical Engineering Design Competition 2025/2026
Our representatives from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Monash University Malaysia) at the 14th IEM Chemical Engineering Design Competition.
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University Malaysia is proud to celebrate the achievements of our talented students who represented the university at the recent 14th IEM Chemical Engineering Design Competition 2025/2026.
This year’s prestigious national competition challenged participants to develop innovative, sustainable solutions for the production of biodegradable solvents from agro-waste feedstocks—a task requiring immense creativity, technical excellence, and forward-thinking engineering design.
Outstanding Student Achievements
We would like to formally recognise and congratulate our three participating teams for their dedication, teamwork, and professionalism throughout the rigorous competition:
- Team 1: Heng Gu Jia, Muhamad Aqil, and Tan Kai-En (2nd Runner-Up)
- Team 2: Wong Yue En, Leow Boon Keat, and Uphraj Avtar Singh (Consolation Prize)
- Team 3: Cheng Ee Jane, Ang Chin Hong, Siah Wei Chen, Belinda Lau, and Darren Wong
While we are incredibly proud of the podium and consolation finishes of Teams 1 and 2, the Department also highly commends Team 3 for their hard work, perseverance, and excellent representation of Monash. Every competition serves as a vital milestone for personal and professional growth, embodying the spirit of continuous learning we aim to cultivate.
Academic Excellence & Contribution
In addition to our student success, the Department extends its warmest congratulations to Associate Professor Tan Jully, who served as a distinguished member of the judging panel for this year’s competition. We are honoured to see our academic staff actively contributing their expertise to advance the chemical engineering profession and support the next generation of engineers.
