Message from the Head of School

Welcome to the School of Engineering at Monash Malaysia!

The School of Engineering is an integral part of the Faculty of Engineering, Monash University, which is ranked the highest in engineering among all universities in Malaysia [1]. The School offers Bachelor of Engineering Honour programs in Chemical, Civil, Electrical & Computer Systems, Mechanical, and Robotics & Mechatronics Engineering, and they have been fully accredited by both Engineering Accreditation Council (hence by Board of Engineers Malaysia) and Engineers Australia. The School also offers Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honour) in collaboration with the School of Information Technology, and this program is fully accredited by Engineers Australia. The high quality of the programs is underpinned by the undifferentiated degree, ensured by a continuous quality improvement (CQI) culture in the spirit of outcome based education (OBE), and further enhanced by a variety of school initiatives which offer outstanding student experience, enabling our students graduating with work-ready skills and professional practices. The Monash Engineering program further differentiates itself by its innovative Common Engineering Level 1 structure, which not only emphasizes fundamentals but also enables our students to make an informed choice, which matches their interests and benefits their lifelong careers. The multi-cultural and international environment at Monash coupled with industrial training, exchange program to other Monash campuses and global partners, and cross-campus projects help our students to mature as well-developed modern engineers, not only with expertise in their field of choice, but also with strong leadership and soft skills that meet the future challenges.

Equipped with world-class infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities, our students and staff undertake high-impact research that provides solutions to industry needs and addresses global challenges. Finally, we are very proud to be able to serve local communities and make contributions to industries in the country.

We offer full-time research programs – Master of Engineering Science (Research) (MEngSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The School of Engineering also offers the Master of Applied Engineering (with three specialisations in Energy and Sustainability, Oil and Fats Processing, and Industrial and Robotics Engineering), a postgraduate coursework program designed for working engineers, engineering and science graduates who aspire towards career advancement in a competitive global environment.
