Hackathon 2019

Monash Hackathon 2019 was successfully organised from 29 to 30 November 2019. The Hackathon event was held at The Hive. The opening and closing ceremonies took place at Plenary Theatre, Monash University Malaysia. It was organised by students from the Schools of Engineering and IT in collaboration with Mobius Digital Systems Sdn Bhd.

Mechatronics Engineering student wins second runner up in the 2019 IEEE Malaysia Best Final Year Project Competition

Congratulations to Mechatronics Engineering student, Srivardhini Veeraragavan for winning second-runner up in the 2019 IEEE Malaysia Best Final Year Project Competition! She won 3rd placing in (1) Recent Trends in Computational Intelligence and (2) Rehabilitation & Biomedical Engineering for her project “Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis and Severity Assessment using Machine Learning” supervised by Dr. Alpha Agape Gopalai.

Warman Design & Build Competition National Finals 2019

Embodying the spirit of “where there is a will, there is a way”, a group of engineering students from Monash University Malaysia strived against all odds to achieve a record-breaking 1st runner up placing at the Warman Design & Build Competition National Finals in Sydney, Australia.

On the night of 14 October during the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Malaysia Awards, Monash Malaysia Chemical Engineering lecturer Dr Serene Lock Sow Mun and student Lee Chin Loong bagged two awards.

IEEE Malaysia Section Best FYP Award

Our final year student from Mechanical Engineering, Su Li Jhe won the Best FYP Award in the prestigious IEEE Malaysia Best Final Year Project Competition (2019). Congratulations!

Our Chemical Engineering students participated in the National Chemical Engineering Symposium 2019 (NACES 2019) from 4-6 October and won Overall Champion. Congratulations on this excellent achievement!

Anugerah Olahragawan MASISWA 2018

Our Mechatronics Engineering student, Yong Jin Kun, has been awarded Sportsman of The Year 2018 by MASISWA in recognition of his sports achievements (Taekwondo Poomsae) among 80 private universities in Malaysia. Recently, he won Gold medal in the Mixed Pairs event and Silver Medal in Men's Team event of the 14th Asean Taekwondo Federation Championship held in Manila, Philippines. We are proud of Jin Kun and we hope to see him obtain more awards and medals in the future! Congratulations!

ITEX 2019

ITEX 2019 was held from 2 - 4 May 2019 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Associate Professor N. Ramakrishnan and his team has won the prestigious Asian Invention Excellence Award 2019 and 2 Gold Awards. Meanwhile, other teams have been given Gold and Silver Awards. Read more about it here. Degreasing the Campus: Chemical Engineering students convert cooking oil to biodiesel using a green process

A team of chemical engineering students from Monash IChemE Student Chapter (MISC) Sunway Campus has embarked on a year-long pilot project to convert the used cooking oil generated on-campus to biodiesel. The project is undertaken under the guidance of Professor Chan Eng Seng from Chemical Engineering and Monash-Industry Palm Oil Research Platform (MIPO).
