National Chemical Engineering Symposium (NACES) 2019
National Chemical Engineering Symposium (NACES) 2019 hosted by Universiti Malaysia Pahang was held from the 4th to 6th of October 2019. This event is hosted annually by different universities in Malaysia with the aim to provide a platform for Chemical Engineering students to nurture a culture of innovation and creativity, exchange of information and promoting discussion between students and people in the industry.
This year, Monash University Malaysia sent 14 students to participate in 5 categories of competition in NACES, namely: Chemical Engineering Challenge, Technical Essay Competition, Technical Video Competition, Technical Case Study Competition and Technical Plant Design Competition.
Our students were victorious in Technical Case Study (Puvurn Raj, Tiffany John Riba, Shovon Ghosh and Shafeeq Syed Ali) and Chemical Engineering Challenge (Lee Wei Chen and Liang Fang Wen), and were awarded cash prize of RM 1,200 and RM 600 respectively.
Meanwhile, our team for Technical Plant Design (Dora Lawrencia, Gan Mee San, Ung Wei Jern and Eugene Ng) also managed to score a second place with a cash prize of RM 800. With the contribution of other students who participated (Shum Choy Yan, Lee Chin Loong, Chan Jun Kang and Tam Si Cong) and the prizes that we have raked from the categories above, for the first time since our participation in 2015, MONASH UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA IS THE OVERALL CHAMPION FOR NACES 2019!
This is a great feat for Chemical Engineering students and we look forward to sustained performance in the future!
