Community Engagement with National and International Recognition of Monash University Malaysia’s ECSE Department

Dr. Melanie Ooi’s research and teaching in the engineering faculty has gained much national recognition. In May 2014, she was an invited speaker for the Women in Energy Forum to share her experience and skills as a guide for Malaysian women working in a male-dominated field. She was also an invited speaker in the Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) HR Conference. TNB is the largest energy generation corporation in Malaysia with over 33,500 employees.

On the international stage, Professor Joshua Li was the keynote speaker for the International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in August as well as an invited speaker for the 2014 IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics: Applications and Student Innovation Competition. He is a Fellow of IEEE, which is the world’s largest professional organisation. His work in Electromagnetic Theory is internationally recognised.
