Graduate Research Week at Monash University Malaysia: Empowering the Next Generation of Changemakers

From July 1st to 4th, 2024, Monash University Malaysia hosted the Graduate Research Week, themed "Empowering the Next Generation of Changemakers." This event aimed to engage, educate, and showcase the research capabilities of graduate research students (GRS) across all schools, preparing them for future careers. The event featured a keynote speech by Dr. Stefan Bächtold on the impact of research at Monash Malaysia and a forum titled "Beyond the Thesis: Navigating the Intersection of Research and Impact," which included distinguished panellists from academia and industry.

The objectives of Graduate Research Week included facilitating connections among experts, enhancing research skills through workshops, providing a platform for GRS to present their research, and offering career planning insights. Workshops and booth exhibitions were conducted by school research platforms, including the Nano Analytical Platform and Advanced Computing Platform from the School of Engineering & IT. External Engagement included participation from entities like the Selangor Biotechnology Coordination Office, which opened doors for potential funding and investment.

Organised by REU with support from various school research platforms and the School of Engineering & School of Information Technology, the event was a collaborative effort that provided a comprehensive and enriching experience for all attendees. The week successfully highlighted the potential and achievements of Monash University Malaysia's graduate researchers, reinforcing the institution's commitment to nurturing the next generation of changemakers.
