Date: 10 - 11 February 2026 Towards Resilient Roads: Engineering Solutions and Industry Innovations Workshop
In February, the M-CRInfra Research Hub, sponsored by Solmax Geosynthetics Asia Sdn Bhd, organised a workshop, with the aim of sparking ideas by bringing together engineers, industry experts, and researchers in a collaborative effort to shape the future of sustainable and climate-resilient highway infrastructure. Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Malaysia's evolving climate and infrastructure, while also exploring global advancements in pavement technologies, geosynthetics, and carbon-reducing construction solutions that support climate-aligned infrastructure development. Through a series of interconnected presentations, the workshop encouraged constructive collaboration between the public and private sectors, foster technical innovation, and highlighted the importance of climate-oriented financing in creating the next generation of resilient highways. Date: 9 December 2025 Meeting and Presentations with Guilin University of Technology
The M-CRInfra Research Hub welcomed the delegation from Guilin University of Technology (GUT) on December 9, 2025. Date: 3 December 2025 Monash x Academy of Concrete Technology (AoCT) Concrete Forum 2025: Everything concrete – Ask, Learn & Apply
On December 3rd, the M-CRInfra Research Hub, in collaboration with the Academy of Concrete Technology (AoCT), held a Concrete Forum at Monash University Malaysia. This event featured A/Prof Daniel Kong (Monash University Malaysia), Dr Yeo Shih Horng (YSH Concrete Technology Sdn Bhd), Ir Ts Hj Mohd Sofian (Kezo Consult Sdn Bhd), and Dr Zack Lim (AoCT) as speakers, discussing fundamental and advanced technologies for concrete. |

Date: 18 November 2025 Special Seminar for Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) – Sunway University – Monash University Malaysia
On 18 November 2025, a special seminar was held by Sunway University and Monash University Malaysia to welcome from Ir Prof CS Poon and his team from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The faculties, courses, and research fields of the participants were introduced to facilitate collaboration and discussion. |
Date: 22 October 2025 Climate Action for a Resilient Asia (CARA) Stakeholder Kick-off Meeting
On 22 October 2025, to kick off the Climate Action for a Resilient Asia (CARA) project, the research team led by Ir Dr Izni Zahidi invited stakeholders from government agencies and departments. The project objectives, which include developing a model of Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) interdependencies around the Selangor River Basin, were introduced. Through this engagement, the appropriate agencies and designated persons in charge (PICs) for specific datasets were identified, enabling targeted and efficient data request coordination. |
Date: 29 September 2025 Seminar on Ultra-High-Performance Concrete: Advancing State-of-the-Art Research to Structural Design and Field Applications The M-CRInfra Research Hub will be organising a Seminar on Ultra-High-Performance Concrete: Advancing State-of-the-Art Research to Structural Design and Field Applications at Monash University Malaysia on 29 September 2025. This event has been approved for 3 BEM CPD Points and features 4 internationally renowned experts on Ultra-High-Performance Concrete. Further details about the speakers can be found here. Date: 18-22 August 2025 Climate Change Research Showcase In August, M-CRInfra participated in the Climate Change Research Showcase organised by the library, together with the Monash Climate Change Communication Research Hub (MCCCRH), the Regional Hub for Asia Climate Change and Health (REACH), and the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO). On 19th August, an interactive session was held for participants to learn more about our climate change research results. |
Date: 21 July 2025 "Beyond the Algorithm: Planning for Motorcyclist Safety in AV-Integrated Transport Systems" Seminar The M-CRInfra Research Hub organised a seminar on Motorcyclist Safety in Autonomous Vehicles (AV) Transport Systems in conjunction with the Monash Warwick Alliance. The event featured experts and topics as follows:

Date: 13 May 2025 M-CRINFRA RESEARCH SEMINAR SERIES 02-2025 ANN-based Mesoscale Modelling for Predicting Effective Thermal Conductivity of Geopolymer Concrete
The speaker for the second seminar in the M-CRInfra Research Seminar Series is Feiyu Shi, a final-year PhD student from the University of Plymouth, UK, who recently passed his PhD viva with minor corrections. This seminar discussed "ANN-based Mesoscale Modelling for Predicting Effective Thermal Conductivity of Geopolymer Concrete". Feiyu Shi's research focuses on developing mesoscale modelling techniques for investigating properties and performance of geopolymer concrete, which has led to two publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also very active in scientific commitments, working as a reviewer for international journals like "Computer & Structures" and "Construction and Building Materials". |
Date: 30 April 2025 Research Collaboration Discussion with Silesian University of Technology
The M-CRInfra Research Hub had our first meeting with Prof Piotr Nowakowski from the Silesian University of Technology, Poland to discuss areas of future collaboration. These areas included green and energy-efficient sustainable models in transportation and logistics, waste management, the circular economy, general transportation and environmental engineering. |
Date: 27 February 2025 Girl Guides Community Project (Sustainable Steps: The Eco Reflexology Garden)
The M-CRInfra Research Hub cooperated with the Girl Guides Association Malaysia, Selangor branch on the community service project "Sustainable Steps: The Eco Reflexology Garden", directed by our Graduate Research Students (GRS) Ervin Tiu and Chung Kok Yaw. Both GRS also participated as invited speakers in the Knowledge Sharing Session: Innovating for a Sustainable Tomorrow webinar hosted by the Girl Guides Association Malaysia, Selangor branch. |

The M-CRInfra Research Colloquium was held in February 2025 to review the events organized by the hub in 2024 and discuss activities planned for 2025. Date: 6 February 2025 The Teslascope Dataset: Insights from Connected Electric Vehicles
The M-CRInfra hub held an insightful seminar delivered by Dr Kai Li Lim, the inaugural St Baker Fellow in E-Mobility at the UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation, University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia. The seminar focused on "The Teslascope Dataset: Insights from Connected Electric Vehicles". Specialising in data science, engineering, and emerging technologies. Dr Lim focuses on real-time vehicle telematics, infrastructure management, and computer vision-based autonomous driving. |

In November, the CARA project team organised a Stakeholder Engagement Workshop at the Nucifera Garden Hall in Selangor Fruit Valley. This workshop Invited all previous participants from the Kick-Off Meeting in October for scenario-based discussion sessions intended to collect stakeholder insights. These insights are vital for informing the WEFE nexus model and identifying cross-sectoral challenges, trade-offs and synergies.
