Green Technology
Energy drives ALL human activities.
Against the backdrop of the growing scarcity of natural resources, and in line with the global shift towards producing energy using efficient methodologies from clean and renewable sources, researchers at the School of Engineering with diverse expertise are working together under the Green Technology research.
This research domain aims to develop credible means to protect the natural environment, conserve resources, and minimize the negative impact of human activities in order to build a sustainable environment that ensures the present generation has enough while future generations get more.
Research in this area cuts across multiple disciplines and can be classified according to the following sub-themes:
- Energy Harvesting
- Energy Saving and Efficiency
- Green Materials
- Water and Environment
- Optimization and Intelligence Applied to Green Technologies
An important pillar of green technology is energy harvesting, which seeks new innovative ways to extract useful energy from otherwise useless waste by-products, as well as to develop cutting-edge technologies to maximize the harnessing of energy.
Research in fuel cells, photocatalysis, biomass, wireless and low-frequency energy harvesting are being actively pursued.
