YES. It is mandatory for all international students to record their attendance.
The Ministry of Higher Education and the Immigration Department of Malaysia requires all international students to maintain a minimum of 80% attendance and a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50 at all times.
On a quarterly basis, the University is required to report on attendance and academic results of all international students to the Ministry of Higher Education. Given the Attendance System generates reports for your attendance rate on a weekly basis, you will receive an email notification if your attendance rate drops below the minimum threshold of 80% or are absent for three or more consecutive days from teaching and learning activities.
The Immigration Department of Malaysia relies on your attendance records and academic results in facilitating the renewal of your student pass. Meeting the minimum attendance requirement is therefore necessary failing which your student pass may not be approved for renewal by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Monash Malaysia is also required to report to the Police Department and Immigration Department of Malaysia on students who do not attend enrolled classes for three or more consecutive days.

Yes, it is mandatory for you to record attendance. Only students with Permanent Resident (MyPR) or Malaysian nationality card are exempted from this requirement.
Students who missed classes due to medical reasons or extenuating reasons are required to provide a copy of valid supporting document(s) to the relevant lecturer/tutor and Ask Mira. Students should keep the ORIGINAL document(s).
You will still have access to record your attendance. If you are unable to have your attendance recorded, please contact Ask Mira and provide your Monash ID, date/time of class for the relevant teaching activity/unit code.
Yes, it is mandatory for you to fulfill the minimum 80% attendance requirements as long as you are enrolled as an international student in Malaysia and your course has not been completed.
Please contact Ask Mira to provide details of the classes such as Monash ID, date/time of replacement class and the unit code.
You can check your attendance record for the current and previous semesters using the Attendance System.

International students are required to maintain an overall minimum attendance record of 80% and WAM 50. Both requirements must be fulfilled and is a condition of student pass renewals.
You are advised to maintain satisfactory attendance and WAM throughout your studies. Unsatisfactory levels of attendance and grades for some units may adversely affect your overall attendance and WAM, which may in turn affect the renewal of Student Pass.
Please note that renewals of Student Pass is at the discretion of the Malaysian Immigration Department.
The data will take a few hours to be updated in the Attendance System. Please ensure that you note down the attendance code and update it within 7 days from the teaching and learning activity.

If you discontinued a unit after the stipulated deadline (see Principal dates), your attendance record for that unit will remain in the system to match the unit(s) on academic transcript.
If you have discontinued a unit before the stipulated deadline and the unit still appears and prompts you to update the attendance (for that particular unit), please reach out via Ask Mira.
Attendance for replacement classes contributes to your overall attendance. It is your responsibility to attend all classes to maintain a minimum 80% attendance as a condition of your Student Pass renewal.
