2024 Re-enrolment for coursework students
Re-enrolment is a process whereby students select and enrol in units for the following academic year. Students who do not complete their studies in 2023 must re-enrol using the Web Enrolment System (WES)
The re-enrolment period for 2024 will start from Monday, 9 October to 24 November 2023. You will receive our emails in October/November to remind you to re-enrol. You need to enrol for the entire year (unless applying for intermission).
If you don’t re-enrol, you risk losing your place in your course. Contact us to discuss your options if you have any concerns about your study load.
Re-enrolment period
On-time re-enrolment: 9 October – 24 November 2023 | Re-enrol for both semesters or apply for intermission |
Late re-enrolment via WES: 25 November – 8 December 2023 | You can still re-enrol but a RM200 late fee will apply. If you do not re-enrol by 8 December 2023 you may lose your place in your course. |
After late re-enrolment closes on Friday 8 December 2023 (subject to school's approval) | Contact your School to obtain special permission to re-enrol or apply for intermission. If they have a place for you, you’ll be charged a RM200 late re-enrolment fee. |
Prepare to re-enrol
Before re-enrolling, you need to check:
- Your course requirements are in the Handbook from the year you started your course. See archived Handbooks for handbooks from previous years.
- Which units are available to you, using the latest Handbook.
It's your responsibility to:
- choose units that comply with your course requirements (both core and elective)
- check prerequisite and co-requisite units
- Contact us if you need help with unit selection
- re-enrol for both semesters, unless you're taking intermission for one semester.
If you are in a combined/double degree, complete the re-enrolment for both course components.
We understand that things may change between now and the start of the semester next year, so you can add, discontinue or change units later.
International Students on Student Pass
- If you're on a student visa, you must enrol in a full-time study load (24 credit points per semester). Otherwise, you may be in breach of your visa conditions and reported to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
- Contact us right away if you have any concerns about your study load.
How to re-enrol
To re-enrol in WES:
- Log into WES and select your units for the entire academic year, unless you're finishing sooner or taking intermission
- You must click on the 'submit enrolment’ button to process your unit selections
- Successful unit enrolments will result in a transaction number commencing with ‘U’ being displayed on the screen and emailed to your Monash email account. If you do not receive a transaction number, your unit enrolment has not been successful.
- Contact ITS Help Desk on +603 5514 6200 or servicedesk.my@monash.edu if you have problems with your Monash IT account.
Unable to enrol in WES
If you're unable to re-enrol in WES, it might be because:
- you can't enrol in that particular unit using WES and you need to use a course enrolment form.
- you may have an encumbrance (a block we've placed on your account) due to outstanding fees or fines or missing paperwork. Clear your encumbrance so you can re-enrol on time otherwise you'll be charged a late re-enrolment fee. For more information, see encumbrances.

Late or failure to re-enrol
Late re-enrolment
If you miss the timely re-enrolment dates, you can re-enrol during the late re-enrolment period:
- 25 November - 8 December 2023
- a late fee of RM200 applies
- you will not lose your place in your course if you re-enrol by the late period deadline
- use the Web Enrolment System (WES) to re-enrol
Failure to re-enrol
If you fail to re-enrol by the end of the late re-enrolment period, the University no longer considers you a current student.
Pre-requisite requirements
If your re-enrolment takes place prior to the release of results it is assumed when you enter your 2024 unit selection that you have met all the prerequisites for your units or course.
After the results release, be sure to check WES to change any units marked as invalid. Then, select your class activities (lectures, tutorials, etc) using Allocate+.
Intermission, course discontinuation and course transfers
- Intermission: Once you've started your course, and your first census date has passed, you may be able to apply for study leave. You can apply to take a break of up to 12 months during your course. This can be taken over consecutive semesters or teaching periods, or at different times. Students must complete an intermission application form.
- Discontinuation: Discuss your decision with your school or from various student support services before discontinuing your course. You may consider applying for intermission instead. Students must complete a course discontinuation application form. International students are required to consult their Education Management Office and International Student Pass Office before submitting your request.
- Course transfer: Re-enrol in your current course and lodge an application for an internal course transfer. Find out further information on eligibility requirements, application dates and what you need to do to accept the offer from our an Internal Course Transfer page.
