Attendance requirement
International Student Attendance Requirement
It is a requirement by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia for international students to maintain an overall minimum 80% attendance (coursework students) or satisfactory (research students) attendance in all classes and an overall minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50 throughout their course of study.
You are advised to maintain satisfactory attendance and WAM throughout your studies. Unsatisfactory levels of attendance and grades for some units may adversely affect your overall attendance and WAM, which may in turn affect the renewal of Student Pass.
Please note that attendance reporting for international students is a mandatory condition for student pass renewal applications. This requirement applies to all international students, even if you are currently outside Malaysia and studying online.
Non-compliance to the attendance requirement (Absence without valid reasons and uncontactable for 14 days) will result in:
- Notification to the police, Ministry of Education Malaysia and Immigration Department of Malaysia; and/or
- Cancellation / non-renewal of your student pass resulting in your course discontinuation
