Monash Undergraduate Research Projects Abroad (MURPA)
Each year a select number of Monash IT students undertake an 8-week international research project. This is available to students of computer science, software engineering or a related area.
MURPA is offered at a number of prestigious international universities, including the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the University of Warwick, UK.
MURPA package includes:
- Return airfare for the most direct route
- Accommodation at host institution
- Supervision and mentorship by a Monash researcher
- Supervision and research facilities provided by remote researchers
- A MURPA unit on your academic transcript (not for credit, but free of charge)
A unique research opportunity
MURPA is a fantastic opportunity to work with world-renowned Monash IT and host professors on cutting-edge research projects and experience life in a leading research laboratory overseas. MURPA is also an excellent opportunity to experience a new culture and lifestyle.
While MURPA is not for credit, you will gain recognition for the program on your academic transcript that will significantly enhance your career prospects, and you will be considered favourably if you choose a postgraduate research career.
Following the successful completion of a MURPA research project, participants will be expected to return to Monash and complete an honours degree.
