Education with Local Roots and a Global Impact
The School of Science is among seven established Schools in Monash University Malaysia. Our curriculum features units identical to the prestigious Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. We are all about broadening horizons – imagine spending a semester as an exchange student at our Clayton Campus or with one of our international partner universities, adding a dash of adventure to your educational experience.
Being a part of a globally established university with a presence on three continents, we extend distinct opportunities to our graduates. We are committed to student experience and graduate employability and consistently strive to cultivate a nurturing and interactive atmosphere. This extends not only to the classroom but also offers students enhanced learning opportunities through immersive field trips,and internships.

1998 | Science programs offered for the first time as part of the School of Engineering and Science- |
2001 | Established the Biotechnology Resource Centre |
2003 | Introduction of Bachelor of Medical Bioscience |
2004 | Postgraduate studies offered for the first time, including Master of Science (by research) |
2005 | Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) launched |
2007 | Introduction of the Bachelor of Food Science and Technology |
2008 | School of Science founded |
2011 | Introduction of Bachelor of Science, major in Tropical Environmental Biology, Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Psychology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Applied Biochemistry |
2011 | Four multidisciplinary research platforms are launched, including the Tropical Medicine and Biology platforms |
2013 | The Genomics Facility, also known as the Monash University Malaysia Genomics Facility (MUMGF), was established |
2014 | School of Science relocated to a new building |
2018 | School of Science celebrates a decade of excellence in education and research |
2023 | Introduction of the Bachelor of Applied Data Science course |
2024 | Monash University Malaysia Genomics Facility is renamed to Monash University Malaysia Genomics Platform. |

From cutting-edge laboratories in genomics, drug discovery & development to technological hubs in food and physical sciences and genomics our facilities foster collaboration, experimentation, and the pursuit of new frontiers. Our advanced Genomics Platform is the first laboratory and research platform at Monash University Malaysia to achieve the ISO 9001:2015 standard, awarded for providing consistent and quality service. The platform has produced over 181 publications and generated more than 2.5 terabytes of sequencing data.
