School of Science Showcases Research Innovations at National Bioeconomy Showcase 2024

The School of Science participated in the National Bioeconomy Showcase 2024 (NBiOSHOWCASE 2024), held on 17 and 18 July 2024 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in collaboration with the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation), the event brought together researchers, industry players, entrepreneurs, universities and the wider public to celebrate innovation and advancements in biotechnology and bio-based industries.

Under the theme “Bioeconomy for All”, the showcase aimed to highlight the potential of biotechnology and bio-based solutions in driving innovation, economic growth and sustainable development, in line with the objectives of the National Biotechnology Policy 2.0.

The School of Science took this opportunity to showcase three innovative research projects led by its academic staff:

  • Multi-Spicy – Dr Thoo Yin Yin
  • Is AMilk – Dr Lee Yee Ying
  • APBiotics – Dr Patrick Tan

Through these showcases, the School highlighted the breadth of its research and innovation activities, demonstrating how scientific research can be translated into practical applications and solutions with potential benefits for society and industry.

Participation in NBiOSHOWCASE 2024 provided a valuable platform for the School to raise the visibility of its research innovations, engage with industry and the public, and explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. It also reinforced the School’s commitment to advancing impactful research and strengthening the connection between academic research and real-world applications.
