Course rules:
Enrolment in the General Studies course is a Malaysian government requirement for all students studying in Malaysia. Please refer to the General Studies website for more information.
During your science course, you need to complete at least one science major/extended major. A major is an area of specialisation, and is achieved by completing specific groups of science units.
Bachelor of Science gives you the advantage to tailor your course to your interests, and you can use your free electives to complete another major (science or non-science), or complete an extended major in your science area of interest or a minor in another science area.
Not all area of studies listed in the handbook are available in Malaysia. The major, extended major and minors offered in Malaysia are listed below.
| Majors | Extended majors | Minors |
|---|---|---|
You should explore more on the majors in detail under the ‘Requirements’, Part B. Science listed major”.
Each unit has a unit code consisting of 3 alphabets and 4 digits. The first digit refers to the year level. For example, BIO1011 is a level one unit and GEN2041 is a level two unit.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (on a student VISA): You must enrol in four units in each semester.
Year 1 Progression
In Year 1, the followings are the units that you have to enrol in:
The sequences information can be found under ‘Requirements’, Part A. Science specified study. Make sure at least one of these sequences corresponds with the science major you would like to complete (as outlined in the table below).
Level one approved sequences and related majors - The table below details compulsory sequence for each major and the 2nd sequence available to you.
