Empowering STEM Educators: School of Science Hosts AI-focused Train-The-Teachers Workshop for MUFY Educators
On 2 July 2025, the School of Science at Monash University Malaysia proudly hosted a Train-The-Teachers Workshop for 60 Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) educators from Sunway College. This collaborative initiative aimed to foster knowledge-sharing and strengthen teaching practices in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
The workshop opened with a warm welcome by Professor Emily Goh Joo Kheng, Head of the School of Science. This was followed by an address from Mr Lee Thye Cheong, Director of Programme and Assistant Director for Pre-University Studies at Sunway College, who emphasized the importance of innovation in education.
The central theme of the workshop was navigating STEM education with AI. Participants explored current practices, pilot projects, and the integration of AI tools into teaching, learning, and research within the School of Science.
The first keynote session, delivered by Professor Siow Lee Fong, Director of Teaching and Learning, traced the evolution of technology in higher education and highlighted the shifting role of educators in a digitally connected world.
