TOMIDAI Global Science Frontiers Workshop
One of the School of Science’s PhD students, Carisa Wong, participated in the TOMIDAI Global Science Frontiers Workshop held at the University of Toyama, Japan, from 24 to 29 September 2025. The workshop is an interdisciplinary programme organised under the Center Initiative for Training International Researchers (CITIR) collaboration. It brought together PhD students and undergraduates from across Asia to explore diverse topics spanning biotechnology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and sustainability science.
During the workshop, she collaborated with peers from Thailand and India on a project exploring wearable technologies for health monitoring. Their innovative and interdisciplinary concept, developed through cross-cultural teamwork, earned the Best Presentation Award (Gold) among 11 participating groups.
Beyond the scientific exposure, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity to connect with peers from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds, exchange ideas, and experience the research environment at the University of Toyama. The experience has inspired Carisa to continue developing interdisciplinary perspectives in her doctoral research at Monash University Malaysia.
Special thanks to Monash University Malaysia and the University of Toyama for providing such an enriching platform for global scientific exchange.
