TOMIDAI Global SciFrontiers Programme 2026
Three graduate research students from the School of Science were invited to participate in the 2nd TOMIDAI Global SciFrontiers Programme at the University of Toyama, Japan.
Angel Lee Pei Lee (supervisor: Dr Gavin Wee Wei Yee), Tang Wenn Wenn (supervisor: Dr Foo Su Chern) and Eldwin Ooi (supervisor: Dr Lee Yee Ying) were selected to represent the School of Science in this programme. The programme was conducted from 14 to 18 September 2026, hosted by the Center Initiative for Training International Researchers (CITIR), University of Toyama. This year marks the second consecutive year that the School of Science was represented, in support of the School’s drive to encourage international research exposure for young researchers.
The programme brought together researchers and students from all over the world, providing opportunities to communicate and collaborate with participants from different countries and disciplines. Students worked in groups and interacted across disciplines, covering aspects of pharmaceutical and natural medicine, medical and engineering sciences, integrated medical sciences, humanities and arts, artificial intelligence, bioengineering, and informatics.
Angel, Wenn Wenn and Eldwin were awarded Silver and Bronze Awards for Outstanding Group Presentation among the 14 participating groups. The experience has encouraged them to be open to interdisciplinary and international collaboration in research, as well as learning about the Japanese culture.
