Three PhD students from the School of Science excelled at the International Congress of the Malaysian Society for Microbiology (ICMSM) 2025, taking home three awards in poster and oral presentation categories.
The International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance & Genomics 2025 (ICAMR 2025) was successfully held from 18 to 20 November 2025 at Monash University Malaysia (MUM).
Dr Adzzie Azman is the first MUM academic to receive the SG Academies South-East Asia Fellowship (SASEAF). She is conducting research at the National University of Singapore on antiviral compounds from novel Actinomycetes strains.

The School of Science is hosting our first Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Ms Katherine (Katie) Vyhnal from California for an 8-month research attachment starting 6 October 2025. Katie is one of the only five recipients of the worldwide prestigious 2025 Fulbright–National Geographic Award and she will be hosted under the supervision of Dr. Wan Faridah A. Jusoh.

A biodegradable skin patch that soothes and protects eczema-prone skin has earned PhD student Harinash Rao the top prize at the 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) finale. Harinash will advance to the 3MT Finals at Monash University, where he’ll compete for a chance to represent Monash at the Asia-Pacific 3MT competition.
