2025 Faculty of Science Awards
On 29 October 2025, the Faculty of Science held its annual Faculty Awards ceremony to recognise the outstanding achievements of staff, students, and teams across the Faculty over the past year. The event commenced with an inspiring address by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Jordan Nash, who highlighted the dedication and collaborative spirit that continue to drive the Faculty’s success.
Staff members and students from the School of Science Malaysia joined the celebration via live stream, sharing in this meaningful occasion that honoured excellence, innovation, and collective achievement. This year, the School is proud to have eleven nominees and four award winners, reflecting its ongoing commitment to excellence and impact within the wider Monash community.

Associate Professor Joash Tan Ban Lee for winning the Faculty of Science Award for Research Commercialisation
The Faculty of Science Award for Research Commercialisation is designed to reward exceptional achievements by research staff who excel in transforming innovative research into practical, market-ready solutions. The award celebrates those who have translated an innovation into marketable solutions, products and services that meet the challenges of the age, leading to significant societal, economic, or technological benefits. It honours commitment to advancing research commercialization and the impactful transition of academic discoveries into real-world applications.

Associate Professor Joash Tan Ban Lee for winning the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award
The Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Awards recognises and celebrates outstanding contributions to the Faculty of Science teaching programs made by individuals or teams. Awardees have demonstrated outstanding approaches to teaching and/or the support of learning that influences, motivates and inspires students, excellent development of curricula, resources or services reflecting a command of the field, high-quality evaluation of practices that lead to improvements in teaching and learning.
Dr Irene Ling for winning the Dean’s Award for Innovation in Learning and Teaching
This Award recognizes outstanding innovation driven by technologies or curricula which improves student engagement, teaching, learning or assessment. It is open to all academic staff, professional staff and teaching associates. Awardees have demonstrated outstanding approaches to teaching and learning through curriculum or technological innovation, development of curricular, resources or services, evaluation practices that bring positive change, innovation, leadership or scholarship that shifts the dial on teaching, learning or the student experience.
Congratulations to our Graduate Research Award winners:
Kulihong Sairebieli and Pan Nu Thwe for winning the Faculty of Science Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Graduate Research Student to the Life of the Faculty/School Community
This Award celebrates outstanding contribution/s to the life of the Faculty of Science/School community, by individuals or teams of graduate research students within the Faculty of Science, that are above and beyond their own research and the expectations of a postgraduate student.
