MSc Studentship (Dr Patrick Tan Hock Siew)

Project title: Development of SELEX selection of aptamer-based biotherapeutics as antitoxin and antimicrobial agents.

Project duration: 2 years

We are pleased to offer a full scholarship for the MSc project addressing the above project title. The candidate is expected to deliver high-impact research outputs.

Eligibility:

  1. Preferably  Malaysian.
  2. The candidate must meet the minimum admission requirements (academic and English language proficiency) for the relevant research degree.
  3. To apply for the MSc (Research), you must have completed a Bachelor’s degree with Honours (first class or second upper class), in relevant disciplines of biological sciences or biomedical sciences.
  4. The candidate must enroll in the full-time MSc (Research) program with Monash University Malaysia and commence the research by May 2021.
  5. Self-motivated individuals with excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are highly encouraged to apply.
  6. The candidate must be able to work independently, requires minimal supervision, and is willing to learn new skills/fields.
  7. Good communication skills and is able to interact well with other people.
  8. The candidate must be proficient in English (written and spoken).
  9. Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing data analysis and Molecular Biology (eg: PCR, recombinant DNA) techniques will be an added advantage.

Benefits:

The MSc (Research) scholarship provides 100% of the tuition fees waiver, plus a stipend of RM 2,800/month throughout the duration of the scholarship.
