Bronze Award in CEO Day @ Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
We are proud to announce that a team of students from the School of Science, Monash University Malaysia has won bronze award in the Sustainable Product Innovation From Palm Waste Competition in CEO Day @UKM organized by the Department of Food Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Malaysian Palm Oil Council.
CEO Day@UKM is an event that aims to provide students with a platform to engage with industry leaders on career and internship opportunities. More than 1000 delegates attended the one-day event on 14 January 2023.
School of Science Monash University Malaysia postgraduate and honors students: Tong Shi Cheng, Chong Wai Ting, Chamodini Thilakarathna, and Eldwin Ooi Ze Hao managed to secure bronze award in the “Sustainable Product Innovation From Palm Waste Competition” with their product “NANOPALM MAYONICE”. The team received a cash reward of RM800 and a certificate. The team is supervised by Dr Lee Yee Ying and graduate honours student Lee Zu Jia from the School of Science.
The team Foodies@3411 has successfully transformed the palm biomass into functional food ingredients that are otherwise being used for non-food purposes “NANOPALM MAYONICE” is a healthy reduced-fat mayonnaise incorporated with nanocellulose derived from the palm-pressed fiber cater to the growing trends of the consumers towards healthy eating.
