The Microbes Invention, Innovation and Ideation Challenge (MINIC) - Sustainable Development Goals 2023

Congratulations to Dr Patrick Tan Hock Siew and his PhD students who have won the Silver Award in the MINIC Competition!

The Microbes Invention, Innovation and Ideation Challenge (MINIC) - Sustainable Development Goals 2023 is a challenge organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to inspire students to solve real-world problems that align with the SDGs using microbes.

The Monash team consisting of 4 PhD students (Wong Bao Chi, Ten Kah Ern, Soffi Law Kei Kei and Rupany Selvam) and Dr Patrick Tan as the advisor come out with their solution called CapsiGone that aims to allow anyone to enjoy spicy food without burning their gut by harnessing the power of probiotics. The event organised by UPM on 18 November 2023 attracted 45 teams from various public and private universities.
