Tell us briefly about your work or role in your current organisation.
Currently I am heading a team that is establishing a new brand in the agricultural industry in Sri Lanka which focuses on produce made using hydroponic technology. The business knowledge, principles and attitude taught by Monash University has contributed for me to form this career pathway.
How has your study in Monash Malaysia helped prepare you for the working world?
An up to date curriculum that is practically applicable in the business environment has allowed me to communicate and contribute towards the practical side of doing business. The holistic learning approach that the curriculum encompasses is not only limited to academic knowledge, but goes beyond towards skill development in presenting ideas and critical thinking - which has allowed me to pitch ideas and execute them successfully in the workplace.
While at Monash, what type of opportunities did you participate in?
At Monash, it takes steps to go beyond the classroom to create an environment to self develop. One such opportunity was the access to guest lectures and industry forums hosted by industry experts. Which provided me with up to date industry information and opportunity to self develop.
Another opportunity was the sports and community activities, which allowed me to understand other cultures because Monash University is, truly a collective of diverse cultures. These activities gave me the opportunity to build a vast network of friends - which benefits are reaped even till today.
The opportunities provided at Monash University is not limited to its studying period. Monash University provides opportunity to further develop network post studies through alumni engagement activities where it allows further development. This continuation of networking opportunities has assisted me in developing myself in my career.
What was it about Monash that made you select this university in the first place?
The reputation and the accreditation for good quality education that the university has built was one of the key aspects that made me choose it. Another key factor was the understanding of the acceptance of Monash University by industry personnel, as it is known as a university that generates good all rounder graduates.
What do you love most about your student life at Monash?
I love and appreciate the opportunity that Monash University has provided me to make it a platform to meet, understand and share knowledge with a diverse amount of individuals in the form of academics and colleagues, which has assisted in my personal growth.
What is your advice to our current and future students?
Enjoy every single moment at Monash University. It is a unique opportunity to learn, meet and collaborate with others.
