Tell us briefly about your work or role in your current organisation.
I write lifestyle content and features for print and web, and social media content. One of the things I enjoy the most is meeting and interviewing personalities to find out more about who they are and what they do. I also manage personality and product shoots, and attend events representing the magazine.
How has your study in Monash Malaysia helped to prepare you for the working world?
At Monash, we were always encouraged to question anything we were taught. I think this has made me inquisitive in the workplace and I learned to not be afraid of asking questions. The Bachelor of Arts program is coursework-based as well, and it definitely trains you to be on top of your assignments. This time management skill has been useful at work!
Whilst at Monash, what type of opportunities did you participate in?
During one of the long breaks, I interned at Ogilvy and until today, I’m really glad that I did the internship because I made connections and friends in the industry who I still keep in touch with! The internship itself gave me the chance to explore the advertising world and I was given tasks as an Advertising Executive and liaising directly with clients. I think this work experience helped me in receiving job offers right after graduating.
What do you love most about your student life at Monash?
I personally loved that I was able to explore a variety of Arts subjects based on my interests. I really enjoyed Film Studies because it allowed me to analyse a film in depth and write about it for assignments. I found that particularly fulfilling because I love movies.
