Tell us briefly about your work or role in your current organisation.
I work with the Strategic Communications department at Bank Negara Malaysia. Much of what I do can be broken down into two broad segments - strategising effective communication plans to communicate the Bank’s mandates and policies to financial institutions as well as to craft campaigns to reach out to the public. This is done through a range of methods including, media engagement, briefing sessions, press conferences, crisis handling, writing statements and many others.
How has your study in Monash Malaysia helped to prepare you for the working world?
The course structure encouraged the examination of various theories and how they relate to our current climate. This meant having to hone my research and analytic skills to make the connection between the two. This has since carried forward into my work.
What did you love most about your student life at Monash?
The writing! It was refreshing and exhilarating to be thinking and engaging in conversations about a breadth of topics and then penning them down in an academic fashion.
