Monash University Malaysia marked a significant milestone in its academic journey with the grand opening of its revamped Level 1 of the Library and Learning Commons (LLC). The launch ceremony, attended by faculty members, staff, and students, showcased the culmination of years of planning and dedication to modernising the university's educational infrastructure.

The event commenced with words of gratitude and excitement from university officials, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that brought the project to fruition. Namita Santra, Director of the LLC and a key figure in the library's transformation, highlighted the necessity of change in academic institutions, drawing parallels between the evolution of libraries and the shifting needs of students and researchers.

Reflecting on the extensive planning process, Namita touched on the collaboration between various departments, underscoring the interdisciplinary nature of the project and the commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art learning environment.

The unveiling ceremony also featured remarks from Professor Beverly Webster, Vice President (Education) at Monash University Malaysia, who commended Namita's visionary leadership in spearheading the transformation. She emphasised the university's commitment to innovation and evidence-based decision-making, citing the inspiration from global library design and functionality best practices.

Professor Dato' Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, President & Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia, echoing the sentiments of her colleagues, expressed pride in the university's achievement and the potential of the revitalised space to serve as a hub for collaboration and academic exploration. Referencing her own experience as a medical student, she highlighted the contrast between traditional library settings and the LLC's contemporary design, emphasising the importance of adaptability in educational spaces.

Beyond its physical transformation, the official launch of the LLC signified a broader commitment to excellence in education and research. With its vast array of resources, including 1797 electronic journals, 198960 online databases, 52434 books and AV materials, and an astounding 2516378 electronic books, the LLC is poised to become a cornerstone of academic life at Monash University Malaysia.
