Alumni Engagement: It's a wrap for 2024!
The Monash University Malaysia Alumni Engagement Office has had a dynamic year, fostering meaningful connections through a diverse range of activities. From celebrating milestones to encouraging active lifestyles and promoting cultural pride, the events reflected a commitment to enhancing alumni experience while bridging the gap between staff, students, and graduates.
April: Graduation Ceremony
The year began with the joyful celebration of new graduates during the April Graduation Ceremony. It marked the start of their exciting journey as our alumni, with the university’s lifelong support as their compass.
June: Healthy Snacking with Staff-Alumni Snack Packs
In June, the Staff-Alumni Snack Pack Gifting Initiative brought a dose of wellness into the workplace. The initiative aimed to encourage healthy snacking amongst colleagues, fostering a sense of care and camaraderie between alumni and staff.
August: Alumni Badminton Catch-Up and Alumni Trident Games
August saw our alumni trading their boardroom blazers for athletic gear for the Alumni Trident Games - Badminton Challenge. To ensure adequate practice, we also held an Alumni Badminton Catch-Up. The event provided an energetic setting for alumni to reconnect, network, and engage in friendly competition, highlighting the importance of an active lifestyle within the alumni community. Congratulations to Siti Hanifah Adiiba and Liow Min Ying for winning bronze in the women’s doubles match!

September: Malaysia Day Celebration
The spirit of unity and culture took centre stage during the Staff-Alumni Malaysia Day Station. Participants enjoyed a mental wellness break with arts and crafts, traditional Malaysian kuih, and a lively trivia quiz on Malaysia’s rich history. The activity reinforced the values of inclusivity and cultural appreciation while building camaraderie between alumni and staff.

October: Future Ready Industry Forum
In October, the Future Ready Industry Forum aligned alumni expertise with student development during the university’s orientation program. Alumni shared insights on networking and professional growth, equipping students with practical knowledge and fostering intergenerational connections. This event underscored the pivotal role alumni play in preparing students for the challenges of the professional world.

November: Graduation Ceremony
The year had another round of proud smiles and warm farewells during the November Graduation Ceremony, welcoming another cohort into the Monash alumni family. The celebration reiterated the office’s commitment to supporting graduates as they transition into their careers.

November: Prominent Alumni Dinner
We joined forces with Monash University, to host a Prominent Alumni Dinner in OpenHouse Kuala Lumpur. 39 distinguished alumni who have achieved significant milestones in their career attended the dinner hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sharon Pickering. The dinner was also attended by the Chancellor, Dr Megan Clark AC, and our President and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia, Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman.

December: Alumni Year-End Gathering
Our Alumni Year-End Gathering celebrated the vibrant alumni community, bringing together graduates, particularly entrepreneurs, for an evening of networking and meaningful connections. The highlight was a panel discussion featuring distinguished alumni Tan Guan Sheng, Vandana Ratnani, Jimmy Yeap, and Kieron Ngoh, showcasing the success and impact of Monash graduates in entrepreneurship. The event provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration, reinforcing the strength of the alumni network. It was a fitting conclusion to the year, inspiring attendees and fostering a sense of community and shared growth.
