Over 130 students participated in interactive sessions designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and address social responsibility. Overview of the opening ceremony of Monash Business Discovery Day 2024
Featuring a creative blend of immersive activities, this year’s event included an on-campus scavenger hunt with workshops covering themes like business knowledge, investment evaluation, and social responsibility. A key highlight was Spot Me, a scavenger hunt where students gained bonus points through social media challenges (#MonashBusDiscoveryDay2024) between workshops. This initiative, shaped by the school’s education leadership and its enthusiastic academics, took an innovative approach to student recruitment, offering a fun and insightful introduction to our majors.

Cluster B: Exploring Smart Investing
Maximising shareholder wealth while minimising investor risk is critical in today’s business environment. In this hands-on session, students developed digital and quantitative skills to evaluate a company's financial health and learned how accounting and financial data, as well as ESG responsibility shape investment decisions in the fast fashion sector. A treasure hunt and decoding challenge provided practical experience in investment evaluation.

Cluster C: Ethical Supply Chain Management
Sustainable and ethical supply chain management is increasingly crucial. Human rights abuses, from chocolate to clothing, pose significant challenges, with nearly 40.3 million people trapped in modern slavery globally, according to the International Labour Organization. This session explored strategies for fashion brands to mitigate these risks, using infographics to highlight best practices in social responsibility.

The event concluded with an award ceremony, celebrating the groups with the highest accumulated points across all workshop tracks. The first prize of RM3,000 and individual certificates went to Team K-Pop 02 (Chang Zhun Pheng, Eugene Ang Tze Shan, Ong Yen Khang, and Wong Zi Jun, from Sunway College).

The second prize, RM2,000 and individual certificates, was awarded to Team Denim 04 (Cheryl Lee Ka Xuan, Justine Woo Ho Yii, Stefan Olasiman Cicovic, and Tan Sze Yann, from Sunway College).

The third prize of RM1,000 and individual certificates went to Team Camo 04 (Fujiana Tanoto, Lim Yi Shuen, Sia Jie Yue, and Sim Jia Yi, from Hin Hua High School).

Additionally, 10 winners of the Spot Me scavenger hunt received H&M gift cards. We congratulate all the winning teams and participants for their active engagement in this event, and we hope they enjoyed the learning experience at the School of Business of Monash University Malaysia. And a heartfelt thank you goes to our School of Business academic and professional staff team, and Monash University’s Future Students team for making this event a success!
