Monash Motorsports impresses at the Thailand SAE Auto Challenge 2024
On the 19th to 21st January 2024, Monash Motorsports Malaysia, a team consisting of more than 30 enthusiastic students from various engineering disciplines participated in the Thailand SAE Auto Challenge 2024. It is an international student design competition organised yearly by the Society of Automotive Engineers, Thailand (TSAE). This year, it is joined by 26 teams from distinguished universities.
With the release of the official overall results, Monash Motorsport Malaysia, representing Monash University Malaysia, have achieved the following:
1st Overall Ranking in Electric Vehicle (EV)
4th Overall Ranking (ICE & EV Combined)
The team has also won:
1st in Efficiency
2nd in Overall Static Events
2nd in Business Presentation
3rd in Design Event
3rd in Autocross
4th in Cost Event
The team is proud to announce that the team maintained its outstanding position as the top-ranked EV team in the event by a substantial margin. Additionally, retaining 4th place in the overall standings against reputable teams from Thailand, with a mere 0.5 points gap to 3rd place, brings the team closer than ever to a podium position. Monash Motorsports Malaysia has not only showcased their engineering prowess but has also brought recognition to Monash University Malaysia on the global stage.
Furthermore, the team is thrilled to report a significant improvement in the car’s performance during the dynamic events. Their custom-designed, high-performance EV secured a podium place in Autocross, setting team records for skidpad and acceleration runs.
The team's success is a testament to their comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, combining mechanical and electrical knowledge in a practical manner. The collaborative effort of students from diverse engineering backgrounds, coupled with unwavering support from the School of Engineering, has fostered an environment where innovation thrives.
