Monash Malaysia's role in AGELESS research
Monash University Malaysia is pleased to announce its involvement as one of the key investigators in the AGELESS Research Project, a collaborative effort between private and public universities aimed at addressing cognitive frailty in Malaysia's ageing population. Professor Dr Teh Pei Lee from the School of Business and Professor Dr Shaun Lee from the School of Pharmacy played an instrumental role as investigators in the project, which focuses on transforming cognitive frailty into later-life self-sufficiency.

Cognitive impairment, characterised by memory loss and challenges in daily tasks, poses significant risks to older adults, including hospitalisation and disability. By addressing cognitive impairment alongside physical frailty, the AGELESS research team aims to develop effective strategies to enhance the well-being of older adults and strengthen collaborations in ageing research.

As Malaysia grapples with the challenges of an ageing population, the AGELESS project's findings are crucial in guiding policy and practice to support the needs of older adults. Statistics from the project highlight the prevalence of memory loss and social vulnerability among older individuals, underscoring the importance of early intervention and support. The project's interdisciplinary approach, involving collaborations with engineering colleagues, demonstrates Monash University Malaysia's commitment to advancing innovative solutions for ageing-related challenges.
