Pioneering wound care excellence in Malaysia
The Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences (JCSMHS) proudly hosted the inaugural Monash International Wound Conference, themed "Opportunities and Challenges in Establishing Wound Care Services". This landmark event united local and international experts to discuss the future of chronic clinical wound management, advancements in wound care services, and evidence-based approaches.
Dato’ Dr Mohd Azman Yacob, Director of Medical Development at the Ministry of Health Malaysia, officiated the event and delivered a keynote address. His speech highlighted a decade of progress in wound care initiatives and emphasised the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Health and Monash University Malaysia.

The delegates and exhibitors were warmly welcomed by the President and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia, Professor Dato' Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, whose speech highlighted the university's commitment to advancing wound care education and training in the country. Monash University Malaysia was officially represented by Professor Dato' Dr Ir Faisal Rafiq, Vice President (Research and Development), and Professor Shah Yasin, Head of JCMSHS, in welcoming the local and international delegates.
The conference featured keynote plenary speakers from Monash University Malaysia, Monash University, Cardiff University, and esteemed representatives from the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), the European Association Fellowship of Wound Healing, as well as the Head of the Wound Care Unit and State Coordinators at the Ministry of Health, whose insights were invaluable.

Special appreciation to Emeritus Professor Keith Harding, Adjunct Professor at Monash University Malaysia and Dr Isoherranen Kirsi, President of EWMA for joining us virtually to deliver their insightful talks.
