Award-winning virologist

Associate Professor Dr Vinod RMT Balasubramaniam, a respected senior lecturer at Monash University Malaysia's esteemed Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, stands out as a prominent virologist, drawing attention for his significant advancements in the field.

Dr Vinod recently won big at the 'UniteHealth 2023 COVID-19 Influencers Social Media Award’, a prestigious international award co-sponsored by Novavax and Inis communications. His dedication to educating people about the virus and vaccines earned him the top spot in the "Understanding the Virus" category, making Malaysia proud.

But that is not all—back in 2012, Dr Vinod received the Best Young Scientist Travel Award in Beijing, China. That represents a significant acknowledgment of his contributions.

Steady commitment to a safer tomorrow

Dr Vinod is motivated to make the world safer from viruses. He studies how these tricky germs interact with our cells and immune system so we can develop better treatments. He is working on a brand-new antiviral that could change the game for everyone.

Focusing on virology and infectious diseases, he has published major important papers on these topics which are used to make changes to the world. Plus, he actively shares helpful information and tips on social media to keep us updated with the latest issues or findings.

Dr Vinod’s expertise and research have been instrumental in advancing our understanding of viral infections and their impact on human health. We are grateful for all his incredible work keeping us safe.
