Taking digital business beyond class
Bachelor of Digital Business students and lecturers, AWS team and partners during their industry visit.
Bachelor of Digital Business (BDB) students from Monash University Malaysia visited the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Malaysia corporate office on 3 September 2026, gaining first-hand exposure to how cloud technology is shaping digital business.
The students were accompanied by BDB lecturers Dr Sarabjit Kaur, Co-Director of the program, Dr Mogana Darshini and Dr Nazirul Hazim. Hosted by the AWS Malaysia team and opened by AWS leadership, the industry visits connected students’ classroom learning with its application in the real world.
The visit explored cloud computing concepts and how cloud infrastructure can support and enable different digital business models. Students were also introduced to the differences between generative AI and agentic AI, as well as careers within the cloud ecosystem.

The AWS team showcased a range of its services, giving students an understanding of the wider cloud ecosystem and the technology behind it. The session also connected with areas covered in the BDB program, including business intelligence, Power BI, supply chain and digital communications.
Students also heard from Monash alumni currently working at AWS during a fireside chat. They shared career advice and insights into the pathways available to graduates entering the cloud and technology industry.
Dr Sarabjit Kaur said the visit gave students an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with how technology is applied in practice.
“There is no better way for our students to understand digital business than to see it in practice. Today they connected what they learn in the classroom with how technology drives real decisions at scale, and I hope it sparks ambition for where their careers can go.”

The industry visit reflects the BDB program’s engagement with industry and its developing relationship with AWS Malaysia, giving students an opportunity to gain exposure to the evolving digital business landscape.
The Bachelor of Digital Business prepares students for digital transformation, with a focus on digital technology applications in business management. The program covers areas of artificial intelligence and digital applications in various business functions including global contexts, while providing practical, real-world experience with industry partners.
