Synergistic Effects of Boron-based Additives on Low-Carbon Fuel Combustion: A Pathway to Cleaner and More Efficient Combustion Applications
This project aims to investigate the potential of advanced boron-based materials as fuel additives to enhance combustion efficiency and reduce emissions in combustion-powered vehicles and propulsion systems. Boron's unique properties, such as high heat of combustion and ability to form stable oxides, make it a promising candidate for improving fuel performance. The research will focus on synthesising and characterising various boron-based materials, evaluating their compatibility with different low-carbon fuels (e.g., sustainable aviation fuels, biodiesel, and synthetic fuels) and assessing their impact on combustion parameters, emissions profiles, and engine performance. The ultimate goal is to develop boron-based fuel additives that can contribute to cleaner and more efficient combustion processes.
