How to apply
Applying for the intercampus exchange program is simple but requires planning early in your course to ensure your course mapping fits the unit offerings at the Malaysia campus.
Unlike applying for the exchange program, you will find that units offered at the Malaysia campus would be similar to your home campus, thus avoiding the need to research for equivalent units.
Entry requirements
The eligibility to apply for the intercampus exchange program requires you to have completed at least 48 credit points of your course at Monash and have a minimum average (WAM) of 60%.
There may be additional requirements depending on your Managing Faculty and course. You may check on your eligibility or consult your Faculty Exchange Advisor for confirmation. Also note that some faculties may not permit you to undertake overseas study in the final semester of your course. Check with your faculty before completing this application.
Ready to apply?
Once you are ready, download and complete the Monash Abroad application form for Intercampus Exchange (pdf, 488kb). The form comprises step-by-step instructions to complete your application and details everything you need to include with your application, such as your study plan and supporting documents for your Student Pass application.
Creating your study plan
Your study plan is the list of units you plan to study while on intercampus exchange, and forms part of your application. While the study plan sits within your application form, you need to have it approved and signed off by your faculty before you can submit the form and supporting documentation to Monash Abroad.
It may take up to eight weeks for your study plan to be approved, therefore you should factor this in when completing you application.
When developing your study plan, you should consider the following:
- Ensure the units of your choice are offered at the Malaysia campus and available in the semester you plan to go.
- It is often easier to get faculty approval if you study elective units.
- You must do a full time load (18-24 credit points) of on-campus units only.
- Be aware of any unit restrictions or limitations and ensure you meet these before selecting the unit(s).
- Choose twice as many units than you would actually need to study. This is to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances such as cancellation of classes/units, timetable clashes that could lead to non – fulfilment of enrolment quotas.
Submitting your application
Once your study plan is approved by your faculty and you have completed your application, submit it to Monash Abroad by the due date.
Application deadlines
All completed application forms submitted to the Monash Abroad office at your home campus must be accompanied with the supporting documents as listed in the application checklist. This would include the Faculty approval of your study plan.
Application type | Semester | Completed application to Monash Abroad office |
All intercampus exchange applicants | One | 15 October |
Two | 31 March |
Depending on your home campus, most faculties would have an earlier deadline for the study plan approval. This would usually be around 8 weeks before the Monash Abroad deadline which you should factor in when completing your application.
