How have your studies at Monash helped to prepare you for the working world?
The research program has provided me with insight into a crucial aspect of career development. Workshops, seminars, conferences, and most importantly, scientific discussions with supervisors and lab mates were instrumental in my career choice as a research fellow. I developed my passion for academic research and teaching from my experiences at Monash University Malaysia.
Why did you decide to study Medicine?
In line with my interests mentioned above, I personally believe that acquiring vast knowledge in this field can be utilised to aid mankind by contributing new knowledge to therapeutic/diagnostic/vaccine investigation and discoveries.
Why did you choose Monash?
Monash University’s name is only preceded by its reputation and it is the first foreign university to establish a campus in Malaysia. Being able to obtain a PhD from such a highly reputable and established university is an added advantage for any aspiring scholar.
Did you participate in any student activities or opportunities?
I was provided with the opportunities to attend international and local conferences as well as seminars and workshops to improve my laboratory skills, widen my scientific knowledge and more importantly establish networks with other professional researchers.
What did you enjoy most about your student life?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Monash University Malaysia. One of my most treasured experiences in Monash is the camaraderie among my friends and colleagues.
What are your career goals?
At present, I would like to develop a career as a molecular virologist and to further excel in the academic field.
