Why did you choose Monash?
A blend of excellent facilities, emphasis on student well being and practical learning. Students are given experiential learning and sufficient guidance, with the provision of proper resources.
Why did you choose to pursue professional counselling?
Psychological therapy and training has always been impressed upon me since my undergraduate years. I’ve always believed in the growth of stature, knowledge, and emotional aspects of every individual. Counselling fulfills the need to interact and understand others, discovering their weaknesses wholly before building their strengths.
Did you go for any industry exposure/placements while studying at Monash? If so, do you think it has made a difference for you in terms of career preparation?
Yes, Monash emphasised interaction with professionals in every major, and seminars to engage their students in broadening their horizons. My student email was often flooded (in a good way) with these events.
Being a former employee, these were as valuable as academic preparation to enter working life. My advice to future graduates is to maximise these event opportunities besides studying! Books will always be books until you apply them.
What did you enjoy most about your student life?
Convenience. Everything is engineered towards students enjoying a comfortable environment for excelling. It is not perfect but truly a class above the rest.
What are your career goals, or what impact would you like to have in the future?
Personally, it is my life goal to grow, guide, and lead others into their full potential. Ideally, my career goals include publishing and growing a private therapy enterprise internationally.
As a person, I hope to bring everyone into a realisation that everyone can master their reality if they mastered themselves. And with that realisation contribute back to others.
