Currently working as a General Manager for Haidilao Supply Chain. Responsible for our company supply chain activity in Malaysia and Singapore.

Why did you choose to study Food Science?

I chose food science because I have a passion for food and a desire to innovate and create new food products. I also have an interest in addressing supply chain issues like food security and sustainability. The course provided me with insights into areas such as research and development, quality assurance, food safety, and product marketing.

What type of opportunities did you participate in at Monash?

I have the chance to visit several food factories, including the GAB beer factory and Yakult Factory, as well as participate in a field trip to the Gombak River during my Environmental class.

Did you go for any internships or work placements? If so, where and did the experience help you in terms of career preparation?

Yes, I was assigned to a vegetarian food factory. At the time, the first ISO 22000 certified vegetarian food factory in Malaysia, I was assigned to all the departments in the factory. I understood how every department worked and the workflow in an industry. I was also able to participate in R&D and process flow improvement throughout the intern period.

What did you enjoy most about your student life at Monash?

The field trip experience in Monash helped us experience and understand the industry better. The lab and small-scale food production equipment helped us understand the class better.

What is your biggest career goal, or what difference would you like to make?

I got the opportunity to design and become the project manager for a food factory and a distribution centre in Malaysia and Singapore. I was also able to assist and help set up supply chains in various countries.
