If you’re currently working, please tell us about your role in your organisation.

As a Medical Representative, I am responsible for continuously exploring new business opportunities and the potential to increase market shares for my company, as well as working to increase access to my company's pharmaceutical products for patients.

Why did you choose to study Pharmacy?

I chose to study for my Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy as it would open doors to a wide range of relevant sectors, such as hospital practice, retail pharmacy, and multinational pharmaceutical companies.

What type of opportunities did you participate in at Monash?

I served a tenure in the Monash University Student Association (MUSA) as their Publicity Officer. I was part of the organising committees for TEDxMonash University Malaysia and the Malaysian International Healthcare Symposium. I represented the Monash School of Pharmacy in the National Pharmacy Sports Carnival (NPSC), where I brought home several medals in swimming and track events. I also actively participated in the Monash University Pharmacy Society (MuPhas), Monash Muay Thai Club and Athletics Club.

Did you go for any internships or work placements? If so, where and did the experience help you in terms of career preparation?

I went for Professional Experience Placements in government hospitals, rural clinics, retail pharmacies, and industrial pharmacies as part of my undergraduate studies. I would later serve three years as a hospital pharmacist in the Malaysian Ministry of Health while working part-time as a locum retail pharmacist, so these placement programmes were vital in terms of providing exposure to pharmacy practice prior to entering the working world.

What did you enjoy most about your student life at Monash?

What I enjoyed most about my student life at Monash was the wide array of communities I could become a part of, where I had the opportunity to form lasting friendships with people from various different backgrounds—both local and international.

What is your biggest career goal, or what is the difference you’d like to make?

I aspire to build a viable reputation and establish a strong network with the professionals in my industry, then take up a role in my company’s Core Leadership Team later on in my career.
